Where did Ryan get his MBA?
It seems like the writers of The Office were trying to make Ryan Howard look like he was a real business person, but they made a mistake in his education. We can see that Dwight Schrute, who is known to be very detail-oriented, really did earn his MBA from the Kania School of Business, but the fact that the writers gave Ryan Howard a degree from the same school is an oversight.
It’s interesting to note that Ryan Howard got the job of Vice President of Northeast Sales in the first place. He was a very inexperienced employee and had no prior management experience. He was promoted because Jan Levinson-Gould was fired for having an affair with Michael Scott, and Ryan Howard was the only one available to fill the position.
Maybe the writers wanted to show that Ryan Howard was a capable businessman, even though he had no real qualifications. He was actually a very good salesman, but he was never really suited to be a manager. He was also quite arrogant and had a poor work ethic.
The writers of the Office certainly had fun with the character of Ryan Howard, and it seems they weren’t too concerned about getting every detail correct. It was more important to create a funny and engaging character, than to portray a completely accurate picture of a successful businessman.
